About
The energy transition is underway — but the workforce needed to deliver it is not keeping pace. Across the full arc of how energy is generated, moved, stored, serviced, and used — spanning utilities, power generation, advanced manufacturing, fleet electrification, data centers, and industrial infrastructure — a persistent and structural challenge has emerged: the skilled trades and technician roles most critical to new energy infrastructure face serious and growing skills gaps, and too often the employers, training providers, and talent leaders working to close them are doing so in isolation.
NationSwell, in partnership with Barclays, LACI and IYF, is convening a working session at Brooklyn Army Terminal — home to BATWorks, NYC’s emerging climate innovation hub — to change that. Bringing together talent leaders, hiring managers, and workforce training providers, this in-person convening will use IYF’s proven industry competency framework to surface and validate the most critical skills gaps across the skilled trades workforce driving new energy infrastructure.
The day will move from insight to action. The goal is a shared vocabulary and shared priorities that attendees can take back to their organizations, and use to advocate for the training investments, certifications, and systems changes the new energy infrastructure demands.
BATWorks offers a uniquely fitting backdrop: a place where growth-stage climate companies, workforce development, and hands-on innovation converge. Where employers are growing and talent supply can grow with them.
Attendees will leave knowing they are not alone in this challenge — and with concrete, validated priorities to guide the next steps.
