Over the past few decades, people across the country have seen their grip on their economic and personal agency become more tenuous. In California and beyond, wages have stagnated while inflation continues to rise, making incomes that once put workers squarely in the middle class in a position of economic precarity. At the same time, wealth continues to accumulate at record levels among the top 1%, while ordinary residents struggle through the pandemic, prepare for a recession, and worry about social and economic strife.
Join NationSwell and Council member host Autumn McDonald for an informative and engaging dinner conversation where we will tackle questions of how we can interrogate and reimagine the American Dream and create an inclusive and equity-driven society and economy that works for all. We will examine where our individual and collective power lies — in the workplace, in the economy, and in our communities — and how we can wield it in solidarity to restore our agency and positively impact our economic and social futures.
This participatory event is for local Council members who are interested in social justice, economic opportunity, and generational equity.

The health and safety of our NationSwell members, staff, and community is incredibly important to us. In order to keep everyone safe, we require proof of full vaccination from everyone in attendance at the event. Fully vaccinated is defined as at least 14 days after receiving the final vaccine in a one- or two-shot protocol with a vaccine approved by the FDA or WHO (including emergency use authorization). We also encourage all attendees, presenters, and staff to wear a mask when in the event space and not actively eating or drinking
