DESCRIPTION:Building Thriving Futures: Pathways to Equitable Home Ownership \n \n \n \n \n \n Virtual RoundtableWednesday\, September 18\, 20244:00pm – 5:00pm ET / 1:00pm – 2:00pm PT \n \n I'm interested in joining this event. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n \n \n Homeownership is a cornerstone of economic mobility and is increasingly out of reach for many families and individuals. To foster diverse and thriving communities nationwide\, we must confront the widening gaps in housing equity by leveraging place-based\, cross-sector collaborations. By implementing comprehensive approaches to increasing equitable homeownership\, we can transform municipalities from places people live into places people call home – a shift that enriches current residents’ lives and lays the foundation for a more inclusive and prosperous future for all. \nJoin us for an insightful discussion where we will explore the common barriers to affordable housing\, beyond the lack of supply\, and delve into innovative and historical solutions to address these challenges\, ensuring our communities can thrive both now and in the future. \n  \n\n  \nOur world is marked by constant social\, political\, economic\, and environmental shifts\, and it is up to us to come together to envision better possibilities for our communities. Join us for insightful cross-sector conversations where we explore opportunities to reimagine the fabric of our neighborhoods\, cities\, and towns to not just be resilient and adaptive to current and future challenges but to actually thrive in the face of these obstacles. In partnership with FUSE\, NationSwell presents the “Building Thriving Futures: Re-imagining and Strengthening America’s Communities.” This event series will cover issues like wealth building\, housing affordability\, supporting small businesses\, and workforce development through the lens of cross-sector collaboration to surface solutions rooted in the needs and resources of communities across America. \n  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

SUMMARY:Innovations in Climate Resilience\, Adaptation\, and Justice
DESCRIPTION:Innovations in Climate Resilience\, Adaptation\, and Justice\n \n \n \n \n \n Virtual RoundtableTuesday\, October 1st\, 20244:00pm – 5:00pm ET / 1:00pm – 2:00pm PT \n \n I'm interested in joining this event. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n \n \n Although global awareness of the physical and social risks posed by changing climate is on the rise\, those risks do not pose equal threats to every part of the world\, or even within individual communities. As the potential for climate disasters to devastate communities mount — and the disparities between those threats — become more obvious\, we will need both better coordination and better solutions in order to guarantee the long-term resilience of our most affected geographies. \nJoin us for a discussion on the practical implications of what it looks like to take a justice-minded approach to confronting the unequal impacts climate change stands to have. Together\, we’ll shed light on some of the most innovative and cut-through approaches to climate resilience and adaptation\, prioritizing a lens that takes into account the disproportionate harm global warming stands to cause already vulnerable and marginalized communities. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

SUMMARY:Navigating Risk with Your Key Stakeholders
DESCRIPTION:Navigating Risk with Your Key Stakeholders\n \n \n \n \n \n Virtual RoundtableWednesday\, October 30\, 20244:00pm – 5:00pm ET / 1:00pm – 2:00pm PT \n \n I'm interested in joining this event. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n \n \n Lawsuits aimed at undermining philanthropic efforts to advance racial justice and equity have pushed questions of “risk” to the forefront of a conversation about funder strategy. Chief among them\, “What amount of risk is acceptable to funders who invest in programs and initiatives that are under increased scrutiny?” While critical to answer with clarity\, this question often assumes agreement and alignment on what risk is\, and who carries it. Yes\, legal exposure creates risk to an organization. But what of the risks of inaction\, of muting an effective approach\, of accepting the terms of bad faith actors? Risks to the organization clearly need careful consideration when setting strategies and navigating tradeoffs\, but so too do risks to the organization’s staff\, grantees\, and the communities that it ultimately serves. \nIn this virtual leader roundtable\, we’ll explore the most effective ways to engage relevant stakeholders — including general counsels\, boards of directors\, and others — in an expansion of the term “risk”\, one that reframes risk such that it becomes more inclusive and more useful as a concept. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

How might we use the engagement of an election cycle to promote understanding and collaboration? How can we foster constructive dialogue with those who hold different views? How can we find ways to embrace our shared humanity? How can we navigate compromises that still honor our core values? \n\n\nLight bites and refreshments will be provided. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n AGENDA\n \n \n \n \n \n 6:00 PM \nWelcome and Happy Hour \n7:00 PM \nFormal Discussion \n8:15 PM \nReflect and Mingle \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n COVID-19 In-Person Policy\n \n \n \n \n \n The health and safety of our NationSwell members\, staff\, and community is incredibly important to us. While we cannot predict the outcome\, or the societal ripple effects\, we can hold space to process information in real time and support each other in taking meaningful action. \nJoin NationSwell and peer leaders two days after Election Day for a virtual discussion\, during which we will reflect on the current environment\, take stock of where organizations and individuals are feeling the most pressure\, and share strategies for navigating the days and weeks ahead. This discussion will also provide much-needed space for emotional nourishment as we acknowledge the complexities of the post-election landscape and support one another through the unpredictability of this moment. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

SUMMARY:NationSwell x MCF Book Club - King: A Life by Jonathan Eig
DESCRIPTION:NationSwell x MCF Book Club – King: A Life by Jonathan Eig\n  \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell MainStageThe Altman Building\, New York CityTuesday\, November 19th\, 20246:00 PM – 8:30 PM ET \n \n Register Today\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n \n \n \n\nNationSwell and Marguerite Casey Foundation (MCF) are proud to present the fourth event in our book club series: “King: A Life” — the first significant account in decades of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. — featuring Pulitzer-winning biographer Jonathan Eig in conversation with Dr. Carmen Rojas\, President & CEO of Marguerite Casey Foundation\, and Dr. Darrick Hamilton\, Professor of Economics and Urban Policy at the New School. \n“King: A Life” offers a revelatory portrait of Dr. King\, blending newly declassified FBI files with vivid storytelling to reveal the complexities of King’s life and work. The biography not only follows King’s journey from the pulpit to the streets of Birmingham\, Selma\, and Memphis but also delves into his private struggles\, familial relationships\, and the intense government repression he endured. King’s commitment to fighting for racial and economic justice\, even at the cost of his life\, emerges as a deeply humanizing story of personal and social transformation. \nJoin us on November 19th in New York City for a conversation among Jonathan Eig\, Dr. Carmen Rojas\, and Dr. Darrick Hamilton on the intricate dynamics of King’s leadership and legacy in today’s political context. Together\, we will reflect on how King’s critique of racism\, economic exploitation\, and militarism continues to inform contemporary movements for freedom and explore how King’s understanding of justice can inspire a better vision for how we build economic and social policy today. \n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n AGENDA\n \n \n \n \n \n 6:00 pmDoors Open and Light Refreshments \n7:00 pmPanel Begins \n8:15 pmPanel Concludes \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Location\n \n \n \n \n \n The Altman Building135 W 18th StreetNew York\, NY 10011 \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Learn more about MCF Book Club\n \n \n \n \n \n Once a month the MCF Book Club shares the ideas of leaders who encourage us to imagine how we can radically transform our democracy\, economy\, and society.
