SUMMARY:Protecting the Dignity of LGBTQIA+ Youth
DESCRIPTION:Protecting the Dignity of LGBTQIA+ Youth\n \n \n \n \n \n Wednesday\, June 29\, 2022 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm EDT \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n \n \n This year\, the US has passed an unprecedented number of state bills designed to attack the personhood of LGBTQIA+ youth. While most of that legislation is bound to be hammered by legal challenges\, the bills represent a full-frontal attack on some of the LGBTQIA+ community’s most vulnerable members: children. \nDuring this NationSwell Mainstage event\, we’ll seek to explore the cultural effects of these bills and what we can do to affirm the dignity and rights of queer children. The event will feature opening remarks from Colorado Gov. Jared Polis\, the first openly gay man to be elected governor; will be moderated by Lauren Baer\, a managing partner at Arena; and will feature panelists Carl Siciliano\, founder of the Ali Forney Center\, Sam Ames (they/them)\, director of advocacy and government affairs at The Trevor Project\, and Janelle Perez\, civic leader & candidate for Florida State Senate.  \nAny members or allies of the LGBTQIA+ community are invited and encouraged to attend. Our hope is that participants will walk away with a greater awareness of the damaging effects of such proposals\, in addition to a handful of actionable steps to take in order to safeguard the dignity of our nation’s queer youth. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Welcome Address\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Governor Jared Polis\nGovernor of Colorado Opening Keynote \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n PANELISTS\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Lauren Baer\nManaging Partner \nArena \nModerator\n \n Learn more\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Carl Siciliano\nFounder \nAli Forney Center \nPanelist\n \n Learn more\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n sam ames\nDirector of Advocacy and Government Affairs \nThe Trevor Project \nPanelist\n \n Learn more\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Janelle perez\nFlorida State Senate Candidate & Civic Leader \nPanelist\n \n Learn more\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Check out the Mainstage calendar to learn more about upcoming events. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

Yet we so rarely dedicate time to thoughtful exploration of how we think about it; how it guides us; how it shapes how we lead and the cultures we are fostering; how it informs our work and impact; and the relationships that matter most to us. \nIt will be a warm\, open\, and intimate conversation designed to provide you with time and space to reflect on the ways love shapes our ongoing and ever-evolving journey of personal leadership\, how leading with love and compassion helps us to meet the challenges of our current cultural moment\, and how we can better center love at the core of our leadership. \nThis topic is a member favorite! And while evergreen\, it feels particularly poignant – and urgent – at this current moment. \nThis event is open to all principal-level Institutional Members.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n PRESENTED BY\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n \n \n \n Check out the Institutional calendar to learn more about upcoming events. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

SUMMARY:Strategic Advisory Group: Creating Equity in the Nonprofit Space
DESCRIPTION:Strategic Advisory Group: Creating Equity in the Nonprofit Space\n \n \n \n \n \n Wednesday\, June 15\, 2022 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm EDT \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n \n \n There has been an explosion of grassroots fundraising and activism over the last few years as communities rise to meet the growing challenges and rapid changes in our country.  But newer nonprofit organizations\, especially those started and run by people of color\, often run into roadblocks as they grow\, clashing with older\, more established support systems as they try to expand their charitable efforts. \nCouncil member Mike Keo\, founder of Make Us Visible is focused on tackling this very issue. Mike’s organization has made huge strides in passing bills to ensure the inclusion of AAPI history in school curricula. But as Make Us Visible expands to more states\, challenges from best practices around governance to logistical issues such as registering as a nonprofit have arisen. \nAt this Strategic Advisory Session\, we will use Mike’s work as a case study on how we might advise and advance early-stage nonprofits creating a roadmap to successful expansion for other organizations like his. \nThis event is for Council members\, especially those with experience running nonprofits and an interest in supporting BIPOC community organizers. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n OBJECTIVES AND PRIMARY TAKEAWAYS\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n 1. SUMMARY:Driving a Just Transition into the Low-Carbon Economy
DESCRIPTION:Driving a Just Transition into the Low-Carbon Economy\n \n \n \n \n \n Tuesday\, June 14\, 2022 @ 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm EDT \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n \n \n As the green economy expands rapidly\, we have a huge opportunity and an urgent responsibility to embed inclusive processes in the explosion of jobs that are supporting a transition into a low-carbon economy. \nTogether with Autodesk Foundation\,The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation\, LinkedIn\, Microsoft\, and Workday\, NationSwell is building a cross-sector coalition of leaders and experts to create more equitable pathways to green jobs\, and nurture more inclusive networks by increasing the use of skills-based hiring for in-demand and high-growth roles. With a focus on underserved communities and areas most impacted by the shift “from brown to green energy\,” this work is aimed to support a just transition into a low-carbon economy. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n What We’ll Discuss\n \n \n \n \n \n The nuances of local needs means that placed-based\, community-led and industry-specific interventions should be favored over generic solutions\, and yet we know that there is work to be done to help create functioning ecosystems of stakeholders to support equitable pathways to fast-growing green jobs. In this discussion we will explore what is needed in order to support place-based coalitions that include funders\, green businesses\, unions & community-centered workforce development organizations. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Resources\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n 01\n \n \n \n \n \n Future of Work Collaborative Memo\n \n Download\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n In partnership with\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n RSVP for Driving a just transition into the zero-carbon economy\n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n \n \n \n Check out the NationSwell events calendar to learn more about upcoming events. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

DESCRIPTION:Strategic Advisory Group: Improving The Lives of Parents & Caregivers\n \n \n \n \n \n Wednesday\, June 8\, 2022 @ 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm EDT \n \n \n \n \n \n Explore membership \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n \n \n The work of caregivers is vital to our society\, yet the caregivers themselves are not always given the recognition and support they need and deserve. This can be especially true for single\, working caregivers. As the most recent wave of the pandemic recedes and more people return to the office\, leaving less time for employees’ caregiving duties\, it is critically important that employers tackle this problem head-on. \nIn this Strategic Advisory Workshop\, NationSwell Council members who are simultaneously both parents and leaders will ask for your feedback on actionable principles that workplaces can employ to improve the lives of their caregiving employees. This event is for Council members who are CEOs\, people managers\, or in HR\, as well as any caregivers in the NationSwell Council. \nNationSwell Strategic Advisory Groups provide a great way for members to support each other\, build community\, offer advice\, and collaborate. This specific event is produced by the NationSwell Council Single Parents Affinity Group.
