Some are finding new efficiencies in reporting\, workflows\, and stakeholder communications. Others are working through hard questions about implementation\, internal buy-in\, and what it means to use these tools responsibly. Most are doing both. \nJoin NationSwell and a small group of peer leaders for a candid virtual braintrust exploring how impact-oriented teams are actually putting AI to work: what they’ve tried\, what’s surprised them\, and where the real challenges lie. We’ll dig into the organizational conditions that help AI adoption succeed\, the use cases generating the most traction\, and the questions still open for the field. \nThis is a practitioner-focused conversation\, held under Chatham House Rules\, designed for honest exchange. \nTo encourage open and candid discussion\, this event follows the Chatham House Rule – attendees may share insights from the conversation but cannot attribute statements to specific individuals or organizations. SUMMARY:Alternative Financing Models for Workforce Development Initiatives
DESCRIPTION:Alternative Financing Models for Workforce Development Initiatives\n \n \n \n \n \n Virtual RoundtableThursday\, October 1\, 20262:00pm – 3:00pm ET  \n \n I'm interested in joining this event. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n \n \n Alternative financing models could reshape how workforce development gets funded\, but implementing them well requires navigating trade-offs in structure\, risk\, and measurement. Leaders considering these approaches often have more questions than answers about how to structure agreements\, define success\, and manage risk across partners. This roundtable will unpack how these financing approaches work in practice\, where they’ve delivered results\, and what leaders should weigh before adopting them. It’s a chance to learn directly from peers who are testing these models and to sharpen your own strategy for funding workforce initiatives that last. \nNationSwell’s Virtual Roundtables and Braintrusts are built for members who are actively working on the issue at hand — including senior leaders\, practitioners\, and subject-matter experts — making them our most accessible format. The bar for the room isn’t seniority; it’s engagement with the topic. Registration may involve a brief approval step to ensure the conversation stays high-quality. \nTo encourage open and candid discussion\, this event follows the Chatham House Rule – attendees may share insights from the conversation but cannot attribute statements to specific individuals or organizations. This ensures a trusted space for thoughtful dialogue and deeper insights. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

There is\, in this moment\, possibility for greater civic engagement\, for better dialogue\, and for deeper connection across our differences. The forces seeking to divide us and dim the promise of a better shared future are not insurmountable. \nNationSwell’s Q3 Salon series brings together impact leaders from business\, philanthropy\, and the social sector for intimate\, in-person conversations about what it will take to actively build up our sense of common purpose and collective opportunity in the next chapter of America. Across cities throughout the U.S.\, we’ll explore the solutions\, models\, and approaches gaining traction – from harnessing digital life and technology to strengthen human bonds\, to reimagining service as a pathway to empathy and deeper understanding\, to developing new narratives that center our most unifying goals and shared values. \nJoin us for a conversation grounded in practice and a belief that progress is possible if we lean in together. \nTo encourage open and candid discussion\, this event follows the Chatham House Rule – attendees may share insights from the conversation but cannot attribute statements to specific individuals or organizations. SUMMARY:Measuring Impact: Getting to the Level of Outcomes
DESCRIPTION:Measuring Impact: Getting to the Level of Outcomes\n \n \n \n \n \n Virtual RoundtableTuesday\, October 6\, 20263:00pm – 4:00pm ET  \n \n I'm interested in joining this event. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n \n \n Most impact teams and organizations can report on outputs\, but measuring what actually changes for people further downstream remains a harder and more valuable challenge. Doing this well often means rethinking data infrastructure\, timelines\, and how success gets defined and communicated to funders and boards\, including the discipline to track and report global or national progress you can strive toward but can’t take direct credit for. This roundtable will dig into emerging best practices for tracking outcomes with more rigor and relevance\, and explore what it takes to shift an organization’s measurement culture in that direction. Leaders will leave with sharper thinking on how to build outcome measurement into their own strategy and reporting. \nNationSwell’s Virtual Roundtables and Braintrusts are built for members who are actively working on the issue at hand — including senior leaders\, practitioners\, and subject-matter experts — making them our most accessible format. That ambiguity can slow decision-making\, create friction with grantees\, and leave staff guessing at what leadership will actually support. \nThis roundtable gives private foundations and corporate funders a space to discuss how to have that conversation internally\, formalize a point of view\, and use it to make faster\, more confident grantmaking decisions. Together\, we’ll unpack how peer organizations define and structure signature initiatives\, weigh the tradeoffs between external visibility and internal employee engagement\, and examine what a shift toward a portfolio model could look like in practice. \nThis will be a candid\, peer-to-peer exchange designed to surface a menu of options and a sharpened set of questions the Foundation can bring back to its leadership as they chart their next chapter. \nNationSwell’s Virtual Roundtables and Braintrusts are built for members who are actively working on the issue at hand — including senior leaders\, practitioners\, and subject-matter experts — making them our most accessible format. SUMMARY:Powering the Transition: Closing the Skills Gap in New Energy Infrastructure
DESCRIPTION:Powering the Transition: Closing the Skills Gap in New Energy Infrastructure\n \n \n \n \n \n In partnership with Schneider Electric\, Google\, Barclays\, LACI and IYF\n \n \n \n \n \n Monday\, November 2\, 20261:00–4:00 PM ETBATWorks\, 102 58th St\, Brooklyn\, NY 11220 \n \n I'm interested in joining this event.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n \n \n The energy transition is underway — but the workforce needed to deliver it is not keeping pace. Across the full arc of how energy is generated\, moved\, stored\, serviced\, and used — spanning utilities\, power generation\, advanced manufacturing\, fleet electrification\, data centers\, and industrial infrastructure — a persistent and structural challenge has emerged: the skilled trades and technician roles most critical to new energy infrastructure face serious and growing skills gaps\, and too often the employers\, training providers\, and talent leaders working to close them are doing so in isolation. \nNationSwell\, in partnership with Barclays\, LACI\, IYF\, Schneider Electric\, and Google is convening a working session at Brooklyn Army Terminal — home to BATWorks\, NYC’s emerging climate innovation hub — to change that. Bringing together talent leaders\, hiring managers\, and workforce training providers\, this in-person convening will use IYF’s proven industry competency framework to surface and validate the most critical skills gaps across the skilled trades workforce driving new energy infrastructure.  \nThe day will move from insight to action. The goal is a shared vocabulary and shared priorities that attendees can take back to their organizations\, and use to advocate for the training investments\, certifications\, and systems changes the new energy infrastructure demands. \nBATWorks offers a uniquely fitting backdrop: a place where growth-stage climate companies\, workforce development\, and hands-on innovation converge. Where employers are growing and talent supply can grow with them. \nAttendees will leave knowing they are not alone in this challenge — and with concrete\, validated priorities to guide the next steps. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n \n \n \n Check out the Institutional calendar to learn more about upcoming events.

DESCRIPTION:ERGs in a Shifting Environment: A Braintrust on Structure\, Participation\, and Shared Ownership\n \n \n \n \n \n BraintrustThursday\, November 12\, 202612:00pm – 1:00pm ET  \n \n I'm interested in joining this event. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n \n \n ERG and colleague engagement leaders have a lot being asked of them right now. The environment has shifted for many — some organizations have restructured\, scaled back\, or are rebuilding entirely — and even where programs are stable\, the operational challenges are real. \nMost teams are working through the same set of questions: how to keep co-leadership structures from depending too heavily on one or two people\, how to meaningfully include employees who can’t always show up\, how to make sure the work ERG leads are doing gets recognized outside the group itself\, and how social impact and DEI functions coordinate when they’re often touching the same programs from different angles. \nThis intimate NationSwell Braintrust brings together social impact\, ERG\, and DEI practitioners to compare notes on what’s working\, what’s been rethought\, and where the open questions still live. This gathering is designed specifically for in-house social impact and colleague engagement leaders; we are not able to accommodate vendors\, consultants\, or service providers.

SUMMARY:From Local Innovation to National Insight: PIERCE COUNTY RESILIENCY HUB
DESCRIPTION:From Local Innovation to National Insight: PIERCE COUNTY RESILIENCY HUB\n \n \n \n \n \n BraintrustThursday\, November 19\, 20261:00pm – 2:00pm ET  \n \n I'm interested in joining this event. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n \n \n As communities across the country navigate increasing complexity\, from economic volatility to climate-related disruptions\, the need for real-time\, locally grounded data and coordinated response has never been greater. In this NationSwell Braintrust\, we’ll explore how the Resiliency Hub in Pierce County is working to meet that need\, offering a new model for how community foundations can operate as intermediaries that translate data into action. \nHosted in partnership with Greater Tacoma Community Foundation\, this session will explore how Pierce County Washington\, is piloting an integrated\, data-driven approach to community resilience. We’ll examine how actionable\, verifiable data\, paired with cross-sector partnerships\, can inform more responsive decision-making and surface emerging needs in real time. \nFrom there\, the conversation will open to a broader discussion: how are other communities approaching this challenge\, where are similar models taking shape\, and what would it take to adapt or scale this work across different geographies and systems? Participants will be invited to react to the model\, share parallel efforts\, and explore opportunities for collaboration and partnership. \nIn doing so\, the session will also consider what it looks like to support and learn from place-based innovation in real time\, including how communities like Pierce County can serve as a proving ground for new approaches that others may engage with\, invest in\, or help bring to scale. \nThe goal is to both sharpen the Resiliency Hub strategy through peer insight and position Pierce County as a leading example of how place-based innovation can inform broader field-building and partnership opportunities. \nNationSwell’s Virtual Roundtables and Braintrusts are built for members who are actively working on the issue at hand — including senior leaders\, practitioners\, and subject-matter experts — making them our most accessible format. We’ll share individual successes and highlight the collaborations and partnerships that inspired us most — celebrating the power of working together to build a future where everyone can thrive. \nLet’s wrap up the year in community: honoring our collective impact and toasting to the opportunities ahead. \nWe’re grateful for your partnership and look forward to celebrating with you!
