SUMMARY:Restoring Social Connection in America: Common Purpose through Service and Community Engagement
DESCRIPTION:Restoring Social Connection in America: Common Purpose through Service and Community Engagement\n \n \n \n \n \n Tuesday\, June 9\, 20261:30–2:30 PM ETMainStage \n \n I'm interested in joining this event.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n \n \n Deficits of trust\, empathy\, and a sense of common purpose are defining characteristics of the current moment in America. Our social fabric is threadbare as deepening polarization spills into many aspects of community life. \nWhile leaders can’t “fix” social division overnight\, they can help rebuild the everyday ties that make communities healthier\, safer\, and more resilient. Service is one of the most effective levers we have. Done well\, it creates proximity\, restores compassion\, and reminds people they still belong to something bigger than themselves. \nJoin NationSwell for part one of a two-part Mainstage series on Restoring Social Connection in America. In this hourlong program\, a panel of leading experts and practitioners will surface some of the boldest and most promising solutions to restoring connection through a deeper culture of service in American communities and workplaces. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Ginneh Baugh\n Chief Impact Officer \nBig Brothers Big Sisters of America \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Secretary Jonny Dorsey\nSecretary of the Maryland Department of Service and Civic Innovation \nMaryland Department of Service & Civic Innovation\, Senior Advisor to Governor Wes Moore \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Jennifer Hoos Rothberg\nExecutive Director \nEinhorn Collaborative \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Aneesh Sohoni\nChief Executive Officer \nTeach for America \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Greg Weatherford II\nDirector \nThe Allstate Foundation & Social Impact \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n \n \n \n Check out the Institutional calendar to learn more about upcoming events.

As the only accredited independent liberal arts college in the United States whose main campus operates inside a prison\, the college has helped thousands of incarcerated students pursue rigorous higher education. \nNow\, building on this legacy\, and through new investment from the State of California\, San Quentin is undergoing a historic transformation into the San Quentin Rehabilitation Center\, including the launch of the first-of-its-kind San Quentin Learning Center\, designed to expand access to education\, workforce training\, and reentry pathways. \nJoin NationSwell for a guided site visit and conversation inside the new San Quentin Learning Center\, followed by a post-visit dinner at Farmshop Marin. Together with cross-sector leaders\, current Mount Tamalpais College students\, and alumni leaders\, we’ll explore what meaningful investment in education looks like inside correctional facilities\, and how innovative learning programs are helping incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals build resilience\, expand opportunity\, and chart new possibilities for life beyond prison. \nTo encourage open and candid discussion\, this event follows the Chatham House Rule – attendees may share insights from the conversation but cannot attribute statements to specific individuals or organizations. This ensures a trusted space for thoughtful dialogue and deeper insights. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n AGENDA\n \n \n \n \n \n 2:00 pm – 4:30 pmGuided Site Visit \n5:30 pmDinner discussion begins \n8:30 pmDinner concludes

DESCRIPTION:Salon on Innovations in Place-Based Social Impact in New York City\n \n \n \n \n \n Wednesday\, April 1\, 20266:00–9:00 PM ETSalon \n \n I'm interested in joining this event.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n \n \n Place-based impact is not a new idea. For decades\, funders and civic leaders have invested in communities in pursuit of durable change. And yet\, many past efforts fell short\, shaped by top-down strategies\, short-term funding cycles\, and visions for communities that did not include the communities themselves. \nToday\, interest in place-based impact is resurging. With this renewed interest comes an opportunity to reflect on what we’ve learned and to ask sharper questions: How do we become better partners and co-learners with communities? How can philanthropy\, business\, government\, and nonprofits work together to drive long-term\, equitable impact? And how do we strengthen local ecosystems so decision-making is guided by leaders closest to the work? \nJoin NationSwell for a cross-sector conversation on innovation in place-based impact\, exploring what it takes to center community leadership and build sustained partnerships that translate renewed interest into lasting change. \nTo encourage open and candid discussion\, this event follows the Chatham House Rule – attendees may share insights from the conversation but cannot attribute statements to specific individuals or organizations. As we peer into the future\, it’s crucial to contemplate how this synergy will evolve and its potential impact on artists\, industries\, and society as a whole. \nThe fusion of art and technology offers immense potential but also presents challenges\, including preserving the human touch in creative processes\, addressing ethical concerns like copyright and algorithmic bias\, and the need for artists to continuously adapt to new technologies. Striking a balance between technological assistance and authentic human expression will be crucial as this rapidly evolving landscape unfolds. \nJoin us as we explore the exciting frontiers where art and technology intersect\, shaping the future of creativity in profound ways. This dynamic fusion is revolutionizing how we create\, experience\, and interpret art\, opening up a world of possibilities that were once unimaginable. \nTo encourage open and candid discussion\, this event follows the Chatham House Rule – attendees may share insights from the conversation but cannot attribute statements to specific individuals or organizations. This ensures a trusted space for thoughtful dialogue and deeper insights.

Books\, articles\, and study after study confirm what many of us feel—the diagnosis is clear: Americans are more disconnected than ever. But what does America’s crisis of disconnection mean for incarcerated populations? \nFor those behind bars\, isolation isn’t just emotional—it’s structural. The barriers to meaningful connection\, both inside prison and with the outside world\, are profound. Yet programs like Mount Tamalpais College show that education is more than learning—it’s a bridge to community\, purpose\, and hope. \nJoin us for a guided site visit and discussion at Mount Tamalpais College in San Quentin Prison\, followed by a post-tour dinner at Farmshop Marin. Together\, we’ll explore the unique challenges of connection for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals—and how education and innovative programs foster growth\, resilience\, and new possibilities for life beyond prison. \nTo encourage open and candid discussion\, this event follows the Chatham House Rule – attendees may share insights from the conversation but cannot attribute statements to specific individuals or organizations.
