SUMMARY:Navigating DEIB Headwinds
DESCRIPTION:Navigating DEIB Headwinds\n \n \n \n \n \n Virtual Leader RoundtableWednesday\, September 27\, 20234:00pm – 5:00pm ET / 1:00pm – 2:00pm PT \n \n I'm interested in joining this event. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n ABOUT\n \n \n \n \n \n The rising tide of anti-DEIB rhetoric\, activism\, and litigation is concerning. The Supreme Court’s recent ruling against established equal protection under law not only effectively ended the use of affirmative action in college admissions\, but also paved the way for a host of new legal challenges to programs aimed at bolstering diversity.  And with the likelihood of new stakeholder pressures and pivotal moments arising as the 2024 U.S. presidential campaign cycle heats up\, the stage is set for a challenging period for diversity\, equity\, and inclusion work more broadly.  \nThis sea change threatens to undermine decades of work to ensure that our schools\, workplaces\, and institutions are more equitable\, and has the potential to change the landscape of DEIB work for decades to come. But within these headwinds is also a meaningful opportunity — a chance for leaders to take stock of and adapt to new challenges\, consider valid criticisms\, and meet the moment.  \nTogether\, we will isolate the most important and solvable challenges\, surface our biggest learnings and recommendations\, and think aloud in draft mode about what we can do to prepare for the road ahead. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

To address this issue\, we must tackle three key educational gaps: inadequate skill development from early grades; insufficient career preparation; and the lack of school accountability linked to successful career and civic outcomes. \nJoin the NationSwell Council for a virtual roundtable where members from various educational\, political\, and economic backgrounds will discuss strategies to redesign educational and career pathways for all students.  \nThis virtual event is related to our equity and justice theme at NationSwell and open to all Council members passionate about education\, social justice\, and economic opportunity. \n“I don’t think that the next generation should fear just being who they are rather than conforming to an expectation of what they are meant to be.”– Jacinda Ardern \n  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Featured Participant\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n David Adams\nCEO  \nThe Urban Assembly\, Inc. \n \n Learn more\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Mohan Sivaloganathan\nCEO \nOur Turn \n \n Learn more\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Brett Roer\nDirector of Partnerships & Community Engagement  \nLeveragED Foundation \n \n Learn more\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Meghan Mackay\nExecutive Director \nLeveragED Foundation \n \n Learn more\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Ashley Gramby\nSenior Director of Marketing and Communications \nGirls Who Code \n \n Learn more\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Check out the Council calendar to learn more about upcoming events. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

Alongside a series of internal and external interviews with leaders at Jazz and beyond\, they are excited to host a convening with peers to explore how others are creating the ‘S’ strategy in ESG. We hope to gather leaders — especially those who work in health equity\, civic health\, employee volunteerism & giving\, or corporate philanthropy— to share insights and lessons learned around what works\, where there are current gaps\, and where the most pressing opportunities exist for social impact strategies to address. \nJoin us for a 90-minute focus group where we will explore external social impact strategies\, with a specific focus on health equity\, corporate philanthropy\, civic health\, volunteerism\, and employee giving programs. For the purposes of this focus group we will not be diving into the impact of a company’s policies on their employees\, but rather focus on the social impact strategies that are related to the external business activities\, philanthropy\, and community impact. This focus group will gather peers who can discuss best-in-class examples\, cutting edge tactics\, and emerging corporate models to create a robust social impact strategy. \n  \n \n \n \n \n \n In partnership with

They’re doing so without clear direction or precedent and amid the swirl of a uniquely polarized environment. \nAs such\, philanthropic leaders are weighing a multitude of tension points and considerations: \nWhat is the right role for philanthropy in this moment and how do you navigate an increasingly political world? Are funders bettering society more by building bridges\, or does pluralism take the energy out of this drive towards change? \nThis curated conversation will be an opportunity for a small group of committed leaders to have an honest\, open\, and collegial discussion about the role of philanthropy in this moment of cultural reckoning\, political divisiveness\, and introspection. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

As companies continue to innovate on their emissions reductions and ramp up decarbonization efforts\, they are simultaneously contending with a growing array of required and voluntary reporting standards. It has become more important than ever to stop and consider who is doing this work well — and who is doing it responsibly.  \nDuring this NationSwell Leader Roundtable\, we’ll convene some of the preeminent voices on accountability and reporting mechanisms for a robust discussion on some of the most pressing issues of the moment. Together\, we’ll explore the state of play on ESG-related regulation\, what’s likely to come\, and some of the best moves we can make in terms of capacity building and planning to make sure that our organizations are hitting the mark on transparency\, compliance\, and impact. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

Supporting employees’ interests\, affinities\, and passions is one of the key tenets of a flourishing organizational culture — but what are the structural elements that need to be designed\, built\, and maintained to engage and empower our teams? What are the best programs\, tools\, and practices to nurture a company culture that honors employees’ passions? What are the key outcomes those programs should aspire to achieve — and what are the key challenges standing in their way? \nDuring this NationSwell Leader Roundtable\, we’ll surface some of the most innovative and effective models we’re seeing in service of harnessing employees’ enthusiasm\, knowledge\, and interest. Together\, we’ll weigh their pros and cons; unpack the strategies leaders are using to activate their work and ensure it is infused with meaning; and learn more about how to navigate the challenges associated with building a more engaged\, values-aligned culture. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

While men have recouped most lost jobs\, women – especially BIPOC women – have been forced out due to exacerbated systemic inequities and underfunding for the care economy. Meanwhile\, only 6% of American companies offer their employees child care benefits. \nThis backdrop sits at a time of immense social change\, disruption\, and possibility. The changes in work and working styles\, expectations of employers\, and a commitment to DEIB present a window of opportunity for businesses to not only actively support the re-entry of women in the workforce\, but also to accelerate the advancement of workers with families and usher in a broader commitment for gender equity.Join us for a 90-minute working group\, convening leaders to surface effective solutions\, understand barriers\, catalyze partnerships\, & share cross-sector knowledge to build the business case for supporting dual-working moms – those who work both in the home & in the workforce. \nThis working group is part of a NationSwell Collaborative project with American Family Insurance Institute for Corporate & Social Impact\, Annie E. Casey Foundation\, National Domestic Workers Alliance\, Care in Action\, Caring Across Generations & Working for Women\, and Pivotal Ventures. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Presented By\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

The NationSwell Council has spent the last few months asking questions about how we can rethink connectedness\, community\, and partnership; how we can reorganize in ways that produce more equitable outcomes; and what leadership means in 2023; and we’re excited to continue those conversations in person! \nJoin us for a living room-style salon where we’ll talk about the future of work and what it means to truly share power\, refine our approaches to culture-building\, and rethink traditional metrics for success in order to focus on a broader set of outcomes. \nMeeting many of the challenges we face will require us to move towards a model that brings in disparate leaders from across systems to build a new culture of equity and belonging — one that prioritizes DEIB initiatives\, mindful hiring practices\, and workforce satisfaction and retention rates. We’re looking forward to getting together in-person in order to build upon our past conversations\, share key insights from prior conversations\, and pool our experiences and ideas in order to continue building out our shared definition of a more evolved leadership. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n FEATURING\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Beth Bengtson\nCEO & Founder \nWorking for Women \n \n Learn more\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Jason Craige Harris \nManaging Partner and Senior Advisor ((Strategist\, Mediator\, Coach\, DEI Specialist)) \n Perception Strategies \n \n Learn more\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Radha Ruparell \nHead of Global Leadership Accelerator \nTeach For All \n \n Learn more\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Josh Saterman\nCEO \nSaterman Connect \n \n Learn more\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Host\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Tory Clarke \nCo-Founder and Partner \nBridge Partners  \n \n Learn more\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n AGENDA\n \n \n \n \n \n 6:00 PMWelcome and Happy Hour \n7:00 PMFormal Discussion \n8:15 PMReflect and Mingle \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n COVID-19 In-Person Policy\n \n \n \n \n \n The health and safety of our NationSwell members\, staff\, and community is incredibly important to us. SUMMARY:Bringing Climate into our work
DESCRIPTION:Bringing Climate into our Work\n \n \n \n \n \n Location: VirtualThursday April 13\, 20234:00pm – 5:00pm ET | 1:00pm – 2:00pm PT \n \n I'm interested in joining this event. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n \n \n New research suggests that at least 85 percent of the world’s population has already experienced extreme weather events made worse by climate change\, and that more than 200 million people worldwide are bound to be displaced by the effects of the climate crisis by the year 2050. It is becoming increasingly clear that no matter who we are or where we live\, we all have a role to play in the solution. Leaders are becoming aware of the intersectional nature of climate issues – all jobs are eco-jobs\, and all organizations can incorporate climate into their work. Exciting cross-sector initiatives\, such as The Partnership for the Civilian Climate Corps that will put people on pathways to good-paying jobs in the clean energy and resilience sectors\, show us how leaders are entering the climate conversation and making a difference.  \nJoin us for a leadership support session led by climate experts from across industries on what you can do to incorporate a climate focus into your organization’s work. We’ll tackle key questions around implementing those changes: how to engage the next generation of leaders in our programs; how we can structure new financial mechanisms that de-risks investment in climate tech solutions at the project development stage; and how we can best leverage the most effective cross-sector partnerships and storytelling to catalyze support for the implementation of new solutions. \nOur goal is to carve out virtual space for connection\, support\, and shared learning for any leaders of nonprofits\, businesses\, social enterprises\, and communities who are navigating ways to address intersectional issues in their work. As the dust begins to settle\, it’s become increasingly obvious where organizations have made great strides towards achieving more equitable cultures and organizational outlooks — and where they still have room to grow. \nAs we continue to steer towards that more equitable and egalitarian future\, join us for a conversation on what your fellow leaders are doing to build a culture of equity and belonging — one that prioritizes DEIB initiatives\, mindful hiring practices\, and workforce satisfaction and retention rates. During this virtual roundtable\, we’ll connect on some of the challenges we’re still facing and discuss the opportunities we’re eyeing to help us advance corporate cultures that pave the way towards progress\, equality\, and greater social impact overall.  \nThis is the second event in a virtual series focused on reimagining leadership in a hybrid workforce. Leaders across sectors are examining the role and responsibility they have to play in shrinking that gap\, particularly as the looming threat of a recession threatens to present a host of new challenges for marginalized communities and people of color.  \nDuring this NationSwell Leader Roundtable\, we’ll hear from a powerful group of cross-sector leaders on the work they’re doing across business\, philanthropy\, finance and government to level the playing field and increase access to capital\, with a particular eye towards uncovering some of the most promising initiatives\, investments\, and potential collaborations. \nInstitutional Members or senior colleagues working in DEIB or interested in how businesses\, philanthropies\, and investment firms can play a role in making the world more equitable and just are all welcome to attend. Together\, we’ll discuss the actionable steps businesses can take to increase the flow of capital to POC-owned businesses\, reduce systemic lender bias\, and create a more egalitarian future for all. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

SUMMARY:Looking Ahead: The 2023 Sustainability Agenda
DESCRIPTION:Looking Ahead: The 2023 Sustainability Agenda\n \n \n \n \n \n Tuesday\, December 6\, 2022\n3:00pm – 4:00pm EDT | 12:00pm – 1:00pm PST\nLocation: Virtual\n \n RSVP for this event\n \n \n \n \n \n I am interested in joining Looking Ahead: The 2023 Sustainability Agenda.\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n \n \n Sustainability is no longer just a buzzword: it’s an imperative — for consumers\, companies\, and governments alike\, all across the world. In recent years\, geopolitical conflict\, natural resource shortages\, rising inequality\, and increasingly frequent extreme weather patterns have accelerated our collective need to address the impacts of climate change with greater urgency. There is a rising tide of interest in sustainable consumption\, greater investment in green technologies and circular economy business models\, as well as ongoing integration of ESG into investment strategies. Shareholders are starting to demand executive compensation to be linked to ESG performance. Given the SEC’s new requirements on public company climate disclosures\, businesses must go beyond declaring net zero targets to specifying with greater rigor\, transparency\, and consistency how such goals will be achieved. What is our progress to date on the UN Sustainable Development Goals\, and how can we align ourselves to a more ambitious plan and agenda in order to safeguard our future? \n  \nThis event is presented in partnership with Morgan Stanley. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n What We’ll Discuss\n \n \n \n \n \n Join us for a one hour\, private virtual roundtable as we look ahead and discuss the 2023 Sustainability Agenda. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Featured Participants\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Jessica Alsford\nChief Sustainability Officer and CEO of the Institute for Sustainable Investing \nMorgan Stanley \n \n Learn more\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Nili Gilbert\nVice Chairwoman \nCarbon Direct \n \n Learn more\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Jessica Hyman\nHead of Sustainability and DEI \nAtlassian \n \n Learn more\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Debra McCoy\nPartner \nBain & Company \n \n Learn more\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Moderator\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Greg Behrman\nCEO and Moderator \nNationSwell \n \n Learn more\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n				 Learn more about upcoming events. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.
