SUMMARY:Navigating Risk with Your Key Stakeholders
DESCRIPTION:Navigating Risk with Your Key Stakeholders\n \n \n \n \n \n Virtual RoundtableWednesday\, October 30\, 20244:00pm – 5:00pm ET / 1:00pm – 2:00pm PT \n \n I'm interested in joining this event. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n \n \n Lawsuits aimed at undermining philanthropic efforts to advance racial justice and equity have pushed questions of “risk” to the forefront of a conversation about funder strategy. Chief among them\, “What amount of risk is acceptable to funders who invest in programs and initiatives that are under increased scrutiny?” While critical to answer with clarity\, this question often assumes agreement and alignment on what risk is\, and who carries it. Yes\, legal exposure creates risk to an organization. But what of the risks of inaction\, of muting an effective approach\, of accepting the terms of bad faith actors? Risks to the organization clearly need careful consideration when setting strategies and navigating tradeoffs\, but so too do risks to the organization’s staff\, grantees\, and the communities that it ultimately serves. \nIn this virtual leader roundtable\, we’ll explore the most effective ways to engage relevant stakeholders — including general counsels\, boards of directors\, and others — in an expansion of the term “risk”\, one that reframes risk such that it becomes more inclusive and more useful as a concept. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

Together\, we’ll shed light on some of the most innovative and cut-through approaches to climate resilience and adaptation\, prioritizing a lens that takes into account the disproportionate harm global warming stands to cause already vulnerable and marginalized communities. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

Following a global pandemic and an economic recession\, talent managers are increasingly turning away from the limited scope of degrees and titles and embracing the exciting new initiatives\, models\, and cross-sector partnerships that hold the potential to build alternative pathways into good jobs for historically underrepresented groups.  \nBut amidst this nascent pivot to skills-based hiring\, what are the stumbling blocks companies are still facing in implementing skills-based hiring practices? And what can employers do imminently to help fortify the pipelines that will ultimately build and sustain a more inclusive workforce? At a minimum\, they must provide employees with the opportunity to cast their vote on Election Day without penalty. But the ceiling for what companies can do to promote civic participation is considerably higher. \nSo what are the most effective ways to increase employee participation in voting\, poll working\, community organizing\, and more? How can you help employees access information that will help them to participate productively and respectfully in civic life? And what can you do to support employees in managing workplace political dialogue when it inevitably happens? Based on new NationSwell research\, join us for a small-group workshop to learn directly from your peers about opportunities to increase and facilitate employee civic participation during the 2024 Presidential election cycle. \nThis workshop follows Chatham House Rule\, ensuring that participants can freely exchange ideas without attribution. Under this rule\, discussions are confidential\, allowing for open and candid dialogue among attendees. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

As we navigate the complex landscape of economic development\, it’s evident that affordable housing represents just one component of wealth building to establish sustainable prosperity. Workforce development\, small business support\, and educational access are also among the myriad of avenues through which wealth creation and social equity can be cultivated. As we explore the intersections of equity\, our goal is to uncover additional pathways that enhance economic mobility and empower communities to thrive\, thus fostering a landscape of inclusive prosperity. \nJoin us for this insightful conversation hosted by FUSE\,  in partnership with NationSwell\, featuring special guest Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas. Cities are increasingly at the vanguard of narrowing wealth gaps. Mayor Lucas is a leader in breaking cycles of poverty\, building wealth in communities of color\, and strengthening Kansas City’s economy to build healthier neighborhoods. Together\, we’ll exchange perspectives\, share insights\, and explore the meaning of exclusive economic growth. From dissecting the challenges to uncovering opportunities in wealth accumulation\, we’ll examine the vital role of public-private partnerships for a more equitable future. \n  \n\n  \nOur world is marked by constant social\, political\, economic\, and environmental shifts\, and it is up to us to come together to envision better possibilities for our communities. Join us for insightful cross-sector conversations where we explore opportunities to reimagine the fabric of our neighborhoods\, cities\, and towns to not just be resilient and adaptive to current and future challenges but to actually thrive in the face of these obstacles. In partnership with FUSE\, NationSwell presents the “Building Thriving Futures: Re-imagining and Strengthening America’s Communities.” This event series will cover issues like wealth building\, AI for good\, climate justice\, and civic engagement through the lens of cross-sector collaboration to surface solutions rooted in the needs and resources of communities across America. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Mayor Quinton Lucas\nKansas City Mayor \nFeatured Guest \n \n Learn more\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

DESCRIPTION:Climate Communication in the Age of Accountability: Navigating Challenges and Opportunities\n \n \n \n \n \n Virtual RoundtableTuesday\, May 02\, 20244:00pm – 5:00pm ET / 1:00pm – 2:00pm PT \n \n I'm interested in joining this event. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n \n \n It’s no secret that we’re in a volatile moment for climate and sustainability work. Newly-approved S.E.C. rules around how public companies should disclose climate risks and increased scrutiny and pushback on greenwashing practices has swung the pendulum back in the other direction: Companies are now “greenhushing”  — deliberately downplaying their sustainability achievements — instead of celebrating well-intentioned climate goals\, and a culture of uncertainty has begun to permeate the ways in which we communicate about our work.  \nJoin us for a virtual Leader Roundtable discussion where we’ll break down how leaders are moving forward with their commitments — and publicizing them — during this uncertain chapter for climate work. Together\, we’ll unpack some of the biggest anxieties and roadblocks you’re currently facing in communicating about climate goals and how you’re dealing with increased pressure from the investor community and consumers alike. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

SUMMARY:The Case for Childcare Collaborative: Employer Solutions & Barriers to Supporting Frontline Working Families
DESCRIPTION:The Case for Childcare Collaborative: Employer Solutions & Barriers to Supporting Frontline Working Families \n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Virtual RoundtableThursday\, April 18\, 20242:00pm – 3:15pm ET / 11:00am – 12:15pm PT \n \n I'm interested in joining this event. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n \n \n We believe employers play a critical role in the childcare movement with the ability to provide resources\, supportive policies\, and paid time off for childcare duties. Research shows that frontline\, low-wage\, and gig workers are often disproportionately left out of benefits that full-time or part-time workers receive\, including childcare benefits. We are on a mission to change this\, and provide pathways for every employer – whether small or large – to play a critical role in helping families meet their basic needs\, and understand the impact of childcare on their business models. This session will center the voices of employers of frontline workers\, revealing the bright spots & challenges that they face when supporting these working families. \nFor context: The COVID-19 pandemic and its effects have had profound implications for women in the workforce – over 2 million women have still not returned to the workplace\, many due to the lack of affordable and accessible childcare. The implications of this social and economic issue highlight: (1) the US has a broken care system that has disproportionately affected working families\, especially BIPOC women\, and frontline or deskless workers (2) women\, in particular\, mothers\, tend to bear the brunt of unpaid caregiving responsibilities\, and (3) the economic consequences of this workforce exodus not only affects families and individual households\, but business growth and the U.S. economy suffer overall\, too.  \nIn partnership with American Family Insurance Institute for Corporate and Social Impact\, the Annie E. Casey Foundation\, National Domestic Workers Alliance\, Pivotal Ventures\, and Working for Women\,  the Case for Childcare Collaborative  is committed to explore the business case for supporting working families\, the childcare economy\, and early childhood education. We concluded Phase 1 of our work\, launching a site that shows employers the business benefits of supporting childcare.  In this session\, we officially launch Phase 2 and aim to identify tangible policies & practices employers can implement to further support frontline workers who are parents.  \n  \nThis is the first event in a series. Register for our second event here. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

In the third and final installment of our “What’s ahead” series\, we’ll take a forward-facing look at how those challenges are manifesting in the philanthropic sector specifically — and at the levers leaders can pull in order to sustain and deepen their impact. \nTogether\, we’ll take a look ahead at some of the key trends\, innovations\, challenges\, and questions on the minds of philanthropy and nonprofit leaders as we chart our way through the year ahead.  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

However\, happiness isn’t a given; it arises from our genetic predispositions\, cultural influences\, and is sculpted by our choices and deeds. So\, what everyday actions can steer us towards happiness?” \nJoin us as we discuss how behaviors like embracing creativity\, fostering optimism\, practicing gratitude\, and exhibiting compassion can not only enhance our personal lives but also ripple outwards\, contributing to a broader happiness in our communities. \nEngage with us in a conversation that cuts to the heart of happiness\, as we collectively ask: What is happiness and how do we find it? \n“Happiness is a journey\, not a destination; happiness is to be found along the way\, not at the end of the road\, for then the journey is over and it’s too late. The time for happiness is today not tomorrow.” – Paul H. Today\, employees and leaders alike place workplace wellbeing higher on their priority lists. 91% of employees find that their job plays a role in determining their wellbeing\, and 57% report seriously considering quitting for a more supportive workplace. 76% of U.S. executives feel that expectations about workforce wellbeing are higher than in previous years\, and 87% say that workforce wellbeing gives their company a competitive advantage.  \nAs organizational leaders\, team leaders\, and individuals\, you experience the demands and challenges associated with workplace wellbeing across multiple dimensions. As we start a new year and build momentum on our priorities\, let’s take a moment to take stock of what’s working\, what’s not\, and what needs to be done in the months ahead to embed wellbeing into the core of our leadership approach\, our team operations\, and organizational culture. \nJoin us at this virtual Leader Roundtable to exchange actionable practices\, new mental models\, and raise up the questions that need answering in order for us to foster an environment where wellbeing and success are intertwined. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

As we begin a new year\, the time is right for us to reflect on what’s needed to act with urgency and conviction. \n2024 will bring parallel challenges and opportunities for corporate sustainability programs and their leaders. New reporting regulations are in effect or will soon be\, global efforts to increase focus on biodiversity and nature-related climate impacts are underway\, scrutiny of carbon markets and their role in net zero commitments is reaching new heights\, AI is promising novel solutions at the same time it carries certain risks to our progress\, and the need for community-centered approaches to adaptation and resilience is likely to become even more acute as climate impacts mount. \nJoin us at this virtual Leader Roundtable for a forward-looking discussion about the year ahead for climate and sustainability work. Together we’ll surface the most pressing questions\, trends\, needs\, and opportunities on the horizon for 2024 and engage one another in a discussion about the most impactful ways this community can drive progress in the months ahead. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.
