SUMMARY:DEI at a Crossroads: Protecting Progress in a New Political Reality
DESCRIPTION:DEI at a Crossroads: Protecting Progress in a New Political Reality\n \n \n \n \n \n Wednesday\, February 5\, 20254:00–5:00 PM ETVirtual Leader Roundtable \n \n I'm interested in joining this event.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n \n \n Among the new administration’s first actions were a handful of executive orders intended to “terminate DEI” in the federal government and the private sector. While those executive orders don’t change existing federal law\, they send a strong signal about the near-term political context for DEI programs. Organizations are reassessing their approaches in real time\, with some publicly announcing rollbacks and others defending their efforts. The environment is marked by uncertainty and concern. \nWe invite you to join NationSwell for a virtual leader brain trust on navigating this critical moment. Together\, we’ll check in on the latest developments in DEI\, explore the challenges and opportunities of this new reality\, and discuss strategies to protect and evolve your initiatives. This is a moment to connect honestly and openly with peers\, cut through the noise\, and leave with actionable takeaways to sustain progress. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n \n \n \n Check out the Institutional calendar to learn more about upcoming events.

When we engage in a conversation about the arts and their social impact\, we delve into how creative expression can challenge norms\, foster empathy\, and inspire action. The arts provide a platform for marginalized voices\, enabling them to tell their stories and advocate for justice. As we explore this topic\, it’s essential to consider how the arts not only reflect societal issues but also actively contribute to shaping a more equitable and inclusive world. \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Upcoming Events\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Check out the Council calendar to learn more about upcoming events. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

SUMMARY:Navigating Risk with Your Key Stakeholders
DESCRIPTION:Navigating Risk with Your Key Stakeholders\n \n \n \n \n \n Virtual RoundtableWednesday\, October 30\, 20244:00pm – 5:00pm ET / 1:00pm – 2:00pm PT \n \n I'm interested in joining this event. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n About\n \n \n \n \n \n Lawsuits aimed at undermining philanthropic efforts to advance racial justice and equity have pushed questions of “risk” to the forefront of a conversation about funder strategy. Chief among them\, “What amount of risk is acceptable to funders who invest in programs and initiatives that are under increased scrutiny?” While critical to answer with clarity\, this question often assumes agreement and alignment on what risk is\, and who carries it. Yes\, legal exposure creates risk to an organization. But what of the risks of inaction\, of muting an effective approach\, of accepting the terms of bad faith actors? Risks to the organization clearly need careful consideration when setting strategies and navigating tradeoffs\, but so too do risks to the organization’s staff\, grantees\, and the communities that it ultimately serves. \nIn this virtual leader roundtable\, we’ll explore the most effective ways to engage relevant stakeholders — including general counsels\, boards of directors\, and others — in an expansion of the term “risk”\, one that reframes risk such that it becomes more inclusive and more useful as a concept. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

To foster diverse and thriving communities nationwide\, we must confront the widening gaps in housing equity by leveraging place-based\, cross-sector collaborations. By implementing comprehensive approaches to increasing equitable homeownership\, we can transform municipalities from places people live into places people call home – a shift that enriches current residents’ lives and lays the foundation for a more inclusive and prosperous future for all. \nJoin us for an insightful discussion where we will explore the common barriers to affordable housing\, beyond the lack of supply\, and delve into innovative and historical solutions to address these challenges\, ensuring our communities can thrive both now and in the future. \n  \n\n  \nOur world is marked by constant social\, political\, economic\, and environmental shifts\, and it is up to us to come together to envision better possibilities for our communities. Join us for insightful cross-sector conversations where we explore opportunities to reimagine the fabric of our neighborhoods\, cities\, and towns to not just be resilient and adaptive to current and future challenges but to actually thrive in the face of these obstacles. In partnership with FUSE\, NationSwell presents the “Building Thriving Futures: Re-imagining and Strengthening America’s Communities.” This event series will cover issues like wealth building\, housing affordability\, supporting small businesses\, and workforce development through the lens of cross-sector collaboration to surface solutions rooted in the needs and resources of communities across America. \n  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.

In this session\, a panel of experts will share more about their unique experiences and the places they have invested in followed by a moderated Q&A session.  Through this event\, we hope to bring more funders into this important work and provide attendees insight into the NationSwell Collaboratives experience \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n NationSwell’s events and experiences are designed to bring together diverse\, purpose-driven leaders and organizations for learning\, inspiration\, relationship-building\, and societal impact.
